Letter To The Community                                                                                      3/23/20

Dear Seaford Community,

We know there are many concerns regarding the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), as a precaution, as

the Seaford Public Library is considered a “non-essential service” we will be closed to help stop the spread of

COVID-19. At this time, we do not know when we will re-open to the public. Please see our website for library

services you can use from home. All fines will be waived during this time. Our book drop is not opened so please

hold on to your materials. We apologize for the inconvenience. We think these steps are necessary to protect the

safety and well being of our staff and patrons.

We will continue to monitor the situation and follow the guidelines and recommendations from the Centers for

Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), New York State and Nassau County Department of Health and the Town of

Hempstead.

Additional steps we will take when we re-open:

  • During regular hours of operation, our Custodians clean surfaces throughout the day. We’ve increased the number of times our public restrooms are cleaned each day. When the Library closes, they conduct a thorough cleaning and disinfecting of the bathrooms, desktops, keyboards, phones, door handles, railings, light switches, etc.
  • We have increased the number of hand sanitizing stations and encourage you and your family to wash your hands more frequently.
  • When library staff members do not feel well, we tell them to stay home. Similarly, if you or a family member isn’t feeling well, we encourage you to stay home and make use of our digital services or phone service for reference and research help. We will waive your late fees while you are ill.
  • Continue to provide updated information regarding the virus.
  • Display signage in all restrooms and throughout the building, reminding people to wash their hands.

We encourage you to follow the CDC guidelines of:

  • Staying home if you do not feel well.
  • Avoid close contact with those who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue away in a trash receptacle.
